Get your medications from the pharmacy while staying healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic

After speaking with our Clever RX Pharmacist Advisory Council, we have aggregated their top recommendations for getting your medications from the pharmacy while staying healthy during the Coronavirus pandemic:

1. Use free delivery services or drive-thru pick up. Many pharmacies are offering free delivery services, but few people are taking advantage of this. At some places, such as CVS, over-the-counter medications can also be included in free delivery or picked up through the drive-thru. It is especially important to use a delivery service if you are not feeling well. Free, easy, and safer for all.

2. If you go to the pharmacy call ahead of time. This is especially helpful when you're using Clever RX. The pharmacist can run your Clever card over the phone and even compare the price to your insurance. This will shorten the wait times in the drive-thru. At the counter, this will help reduce the time you spend around other people. Additionally, you can check if an item is in stock before coming in. Many people are spending time in crowded stores looking for items that might be out of stock.

DID YOU KNOW?

Medicare, and some insurance plans, do NOT cover cough medications. Clever RX can help with these costs by offering discounts on a variety of over-the-counter cough medications.

3. Use Clever RX to purchase cough medication. Knowing that COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, many people are purchasing cough medications, however, not everyone is getting the best most affordable prices. Using Clever RX, you can get many of these medications at a discounted price, making them more affordable. Save big with Clever and share the savings forward by sharing the Clever RX App with those you love.

4. Go to the pharmacy in the first two hours after opening and the last two hours before closing. According to the PAC, this is usually when the least number of people are in the store, lessening your chance of exposure.

5. When standing in line, make sure to leave space between you and the person in front of you. 6 feet people! Pharmacists can see the anxiety on customer's faces when others get too close.

6. Follow the basics: Wash your hands before you come to the pharmacy, wash your hands after you leave, and don’t touch your face.
