Prescription discount cards, also known as "cash cards," have been around for 30 plus years, primarily used for the uninsured. This history has contributed to the lasting belief that discount cards can only be used for the uninsured. Today, this common misperception is far from the truth and can be harmful to patients lacking access to affordable medications through their insurance.
